Rainbow island – Burano

I am sure you might have seen the pictures of row houses full of vivid colors, lovely white windows, clean pathways and small bridges over canals. This postcard perfect.picturesque place is Burano. This small island is 1h30m away from Venice, and one of the most interesting one as compare to other 2(Murano and Torcello)

We have been to Burano during our 3 days Venice trip, initially we never planned any of the islands in lagoon, But while checking out the vaporetto route we came to know about these islands. Vaporetto for Murano from Cannaregio stop is pretty frequent but from Murano it was roughly 1 hr wait for Burnao. During in ferry ride we expected something similar as Murano. But once we approached the island, we were greeted by a colorful place, a completely different from what we have seen so far.

Burano is a tiny island, just a walk around the pathways for 1-2 hrs and you are done. Atmosphere in the island is totally different from Venice, so calm and a strong sense of remoteness.

All the houses are small and painted in different colors. Surprisingly none of the adjacent houses are of same color, well coordinated. We visited some souvenir shops and cafe and spent 2 hrs there just by roaming in streets and clicking pictures.

Some pointers:-

  • We brought 48 hrs pass for vaporetto, which saved the ticket purchase time and easy hop-in hop-off in any stop
  • Its is a small island so plan 1-2 hrs time depending on your interest
  • Burano is like a photographer’s dream and great place for Instagram mission

Thanks for reading. Happy traveling!!! 👋
